What Is A Styled Shoot?
“A styled shoot is simply a collaborative effort of multiple creatives who put their talents and resources together to create a stunning visual concept to be photographed.”* I often get inquiries from photographers, event coordinators, or event venues asking for a florist to collaborate on styled (photo)shoots.
Sometimes there is a vision for these shoots and other times I have total creative liberty to design whatever I want. Sometimes I’m offered compensation for materials/time and other times it’s a volunteer opportunity. I decide whether I want to participate based on my availability, the amount of material/time requested, and how I feel about the creative vision for the shoot. I enjoy these shoots because they are opportunities to flex my creative muscles as a florist, try new design styles or techniques, and work with other wedding vendors in the community.
This Styled Shoot
For this shoot, Stephanie of How Eventful Events envisioned a Modern Bohemian aesthetic that would epitomize the bride of today! We designed an organic style hoop bouquet and open floral archway to complement the grandeur of Osage House.
What Did I Use?
In the bridal bouquet, we featured White O'hara Garden Roses, creamy White Majolica spray roses, and spikey Tillandsia. Tons of fresh Italian Ruscus and Seeded Eucalyptus cascaded around the hoop to create a dramatic, Bohemian effect. It paired wonderfully with the bride’s lace gown and relaxed hairstyle!
The real star was the open arch for the ceremony! To frame a stunning rustic, vintage door we used white hydrangeas, stock, and an array of bright green foliage. A total showstopper!
What pairs with a timeless cream and white ceremony? A crisp and clean reception! We used gorgeous pieces of Italian Ruscus and fresh lemons to line the white linen covered tables. Scabiosa blooms adorned each settings napkin. Finally, a naked cake adorned with white carnations and green foliage accented with lemons rounded out the day! If 2021 were a wedding, it would be this shoot! Enjoy the images below.
