Cross Iron Cottage Styled Shoot

We often get inquiries from photographers, event coordinators, or event venues asking for us to collaborate on styled (photo)shoots. We enjoy these opportunities because they are a fun way to flex our creative muscles and try new design styles or techniques.

What happens when a group of photographers get together?

For this styled shoot, we were approached by a group of photographers—Boston Mountain Photo Company, Mindy Fulcher Photography, West Photography, and This Shot Photography. They requested flowers for a winter photoshoot at the lovely new(er) venue, Cross Iron Cottage, in Glen Rose, Arkansas. Typically we are only approached by a single photographer for a styled shoot, so this was an especially unique opportunity.

How do you see a bouquet?

The photos below demonstrate that the photographer, their camera, and their editing style has a huge impact on how flowers appear in pictures. You can really see how differently each photographer captures the same bouquet. No photographer is better or worse than the other; they just have different styles. When looking at pictures of wedding flowers (or any flowers) on Pinterest, Instagram, or elsewhere on the internet, keep this in mind. Colors may be muted or brightened and not true to life. The angle of a shot may change the look of your bouquet, making it seem larger or smaller, or even a different shape. When choosing a photographer, pick someone that captures and edits in a style that you like for your memories but let your florist guide you for colors, shapes and real-life.

The first photo is captured by our in-house photographer and floral designer-in-training, Kaity, of Photo Love. This photo was taken on our white backdrop in the shop.

These next photos were captured by Boston Mountain Photo Company.

The pictures below were captured by Mindy Fulcher Photography.

The next images are taken by West Photography.

And this group is by This Shot Photography.

Let’s look at a similar shot of the bouquet side by side…see the difference?
